IVYSO FALL PROGRAMMING KICKS OFF 8/27!
NEW FOR 2024-25 SEASON: INTERMEZZO STRING ENSEMBLE
Intermezzo String Orchestra is IVYSO's newest string ensemble! Intermezzo will serve as a transitional ensemble for students who have graduated Prelude but aren't yet ready for the String Orchestra. New IVYSO students are also welcome!
There are no seating hearings, but students are encouraged to consult their private teachers and email [email protected] to determine readiness.
Students in this ensemble are strongly suggested to be enrolled in private lessons. Minimum of 1 year of organized or private instruction on their string instrument prior to enrollment. Rehearsals take place on Monday evenings at Maestro and Mi in La Salle, IL from 5:30 - 6:30pm.

Sinfonia (formerly String Orchestra)Sinfonia, our top performing ensemble, is built for string students with 2+ years in private lessons. Every applicant is either accepted into the ensemble or redirected to one of our other ensembles if it seems that it's more appropriate for their playing level.
Seating hearings are 8/27/24 at LPHS from 5:30 - 8:30pm Rehearsals begin 9/3/24 at LPHS and run 7 - 8:30pm weekly on Tuesdays

IVYSO Prelude String EnsembleEntering its 3rd year running, Prelude is an entry-level string ensemble program designed for beginning players, particularly 4th and 5th graders.
Our partnership with The Music Shoppe, Inc. in Normal allows students and their families to rent low-cost, quality student instruments if they don't already have an instrument. There is no audition for Prelude, as everyone is a beginner! But we do invite interested families to attend our annual Prelude Info Day event where students can experience a mini concert, try out instruments that are just their size, and you can speak to representatives from our organization and from The Music Shoppe. Prelude Info Day will be 9/28/24 from 10:30am - 12:30pm Class begins 10/8/24 and each session runs from 5:30 - 6:30pm
